Eyelid surgery can dramatically improve patients' vision and appearance.
What is Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty or an eyelid lift, is a surgical procedure that is performed to remove excess skin and underlying tissue. Muscle tissue may also be tightened to achieve the very best results.
For many patients, sagging eyelids can impair the upper field of vision and cause issues completing daily activities. This may cause patients to tilt their head in order to see more clearly, which can impact your quality of life. If lifting the skin with your fingertips provides improved vision, you may be a candidate for this procedure.
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your eyes due to drooping, upper eyelid surgery may be the right solution for you. This treatment can enhance your eyes and also help create an overall younger-looking appearance by complimenting your surrounding features.
The Surgical Process
On the day of your surgery, you will be provided with intravenous (IV) sedation to allow you to relax during treatment. Once you are comfortable, Dr. McConnell will make incisions along your natural eyelid crease. This helps minimize visible scarring for the most aesthetic results.
While the procedure is fairly straightforward, Dr. McConnell pays great attention to detail to create a natural-looking outcome.
Dr. McConnell will then remove excess skin and fat that is causing the area to sag. The remaining skin will be lifted to a higher position, alleviating visual interference and creating a more youthful, alert appearance. The incisions will then be closed to complete the surgery. While the procedure is fairly straightforward, Dr. McConnell pays great attention to detail to create a natural-looking outcome.
Eyelid surgery is not typically recommended for patients with glaucoma or uncontrolled dry eyes as these conditions can cause complications. Additionally, those with certain medical conditions may not be candidates, including those with:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- High blood pressure
During your consultation, we will review your patient history, concerns, and treatment goals in order to determine whether blepharoplasty is right for you.
Financing Your Eyelid Surgery
We believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality care. Typically, insurance will only cover part or all of your treatment cost if eyelid surgery is being performed for functional reasons. For patients whose insurance does not cover the surgery, we accept financing through CareCredit®. This allows patients to break their total treatment cost into manageable monthly payments.
